My best friend’s mom always made playdough for us growing up. I remember sitting at the kitchen table while she mixed flour, salt, and water into a bowl. And the best part...you can actually eat it! Not that it tastes that great, but you do not have to worry about a small child slipping a piece or two into their mouth. I have taken her recipe and adapted it slightly for my own children. It may even be more fun to make than to play with!
Having a good playdough recipe is one of those essential recipes all parents should have. It's a low-cost activity that only takes a few minutes to make and provides hours of fun!
I would love to see what you come up with. Be sure to share your comments and pictures below!
½ cup water
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
Step by Step:
1. Combine flour, water, and salt in bowl.
2. Knead the dough, as if you are making bread.
3. Go ahead and play with it! Or store in a container for later.
Note: Make colorful playdough using food coloring, but be aware that this can be messy and may stain clothing. If you choose to color the dough, mix 1-2 tsp (depending on the darkness of the color your want) food gel directly to the water...then mix the water, flour, and salt together.
