Beach in a Jar

Preserve your memories of the beach by taking it home with you! Bring along a Mason jar, and collect sand and shells as you walk along the beach. If you do not have remnants of the beach, a simple trip to the local crafts store will do the trick.

Growing up, I acquired a collection of sand and shells from beach trips, and I learned to use my collections for a variety of decorating purposes. Shells were used to decorate picture frames, fill glass jars, and even embellish a hand-painted beach picture. Glass jars with sand sat on my window seal. I always found a use for what I brought home.

I have always thought that the most beautiful decor is unique, handmade, and sentimental. Creating your own beach in a jar is a way to decorate your home in a meaningful way and incorporate past experiences into the new. So without further ado, here is how to do it!

Okay, one last thing. Mason jars also make great vases, candles, and salad containers! And I would love to see what you come up with. Be sure to share your comments and pictures below!
