Mason Jar Hang Tags

Complete the look of your Mason jar project with a unique jar tag. Making your own jar tags requires only a few materials, which your probably already have sitting around the house.

A few months ago, I was cutting multi-colored card stock with my toddlers and came up with the idea of unique jar tags. They were requesting that I cut flowers out of yellow and purple paper, and I thought to myself, 'Hey, this would be perfect for my flower jar.' So with a little time and Elmer's glue, I started to make jar tags that corresponded to the items in my Mason jars.

Making jar tags was so much easier than I could have imagined and is excellent for giving a candle, jam, or applesauce a beautiful, finished look! I would love to see what you come up with. Be sure to share your comments and pictures below!

Materials:

Colored card stock

(or construction paper)

Scissors

Gift ribbon

Permanent marker

Elmer's glue

Single hole puncher

Step by Step:

1. Plan

Think about what kind of tags you want for your jars. For example, if you just finished making homemade applesauce, a red or green apple-shaped tag would work great, or if you are looking for something to label strawberry jam, try a red strawberry-shaped tag.

2. Create

Cut desired shapes, mixing colors if needed (for example, a strawberry would have a red semi-heart-shaped base and green top)

If more than one piece is present, glue together.

Punch a hole near top of tag and pull ribbon through.

Write name or description of food or object attaching to.

3. Finish

Tie ribbon to the neck of Mason jar and tie off in a bow.
