Decorative Soap With Rose Petals

Updated: Feb 20, 2019

I love love love this soap recipe! It is quick and easy to make, yet looks like a high-end soap. It also incorporates elements of my garden...I choose to dry my own roses, but you can also purchase pre-dried rose petals. Or if you do not have rose petals, substitute with any dried flower from your garden. Simply melt shea butter soap, stir in dried flower petals, pour into soap molds, and allow to harden. That's it! And these soaps make fabulous presents, especially when tied off with a gift tie.

Difficulty Level: Easy

Project Time: 5-10 minutes

Gift ties or twine

Shea butter soap

Skewer (for color mixing)

Soap molds

Cutting board

Soap cutter

Plastic bag

Measuring cup

Dried rose petals

Step by Step:

1. Lay plastic bag on work makes cleanup so much easier!

2. Cut raw soap into small blocks and place into measuring cup.

3. Microwave soap for half a minute. Continue to microwave until completely melted, checking on it every 10-15 seconds and stirring to help soap to melt evenly.

4. Stir in soap fragrance and then a few pinches of dried rose petals.

5. Pour soap into soap molds.

6. Allow soap to sit for about an hour or until firm. Refrigerating helps to speed things up. Then pop out of molds and tie off with twine or gift ties.

Note: This can be a really fun project for older kids to help out with! Allow the kiddos to add glitter, colors, fragrance, rose petals, or even dried herbs to the liquid soap…see what they come up with!
